First Foldable Solar Roof in Liechtenstein Successfully Commissioned

Vaduz (LI), June 9, 2026 – With the HELIOFLEX® foldable solar roof at Fabrikweg in Vaduz, the first foldable solar roof in Liechtenstein has been successfully realised. The installation demonstrates how existing parking areas can be used more efficiently while making a significant contribution to local renewable energy generation.

Particularly remarkable is the short project duration: only twelve months passed between contract signing, commissioning and final acceptance. Thanks to the close collaboration between the Municipality of Vaduz, the Vaduz Energy Commission, all project partners and the team at dhp Technology, the project was completed on schedule and without delays.

Turning Parking Areas into Energy Infrastructure

The installation has a total capacity of 312 kWp and generates up to 397,000 kWh of solar electricity per year. A total of 600 photovoltaic modules were installed across 15 HELIOFLEX® roof sections. The approximately 2,100 m² parking area remains fully operational while simultaneously producing renewable energy.

The project clearly demonstrates the potential of already sealed surfaces. Instead of consuming additional land, existing infrastructure is upgraded and transformed into an active contributor to the energy transition.

HELIOFLEX®: Dual Use with Added Value

HELIOFLEX® was specifically developed for parking areas, wastewater treatment plants and other infrastructure sites. The movable solar roof combines renewable energy generation with unrestricted use of the area below.

Key benefits include:

  • Renewable energy generation without additional land consumption
  • Shading and weather protection for vehicles
  • High clearance and unrestricted usability
  • Automatic retraction in case of snow, storms or hail
  • Efficient use of existing infrastructure

A Showcase Project for the Energy Transition

The project in Vaduz not only generates clean electricity but also serves as a visible example of innovation and sustainable infrastructure development. As the first foldable solar roof in Liechtenstein, it demonstrates how parking areas can be transformed into multifunctional energy hubs – efficiently, economically and without compromising their original purpose.

We would like to thank the Municipality of Vaduz, the Vaduz Energy Commission, all project partners and the entire dhp Technology team for their excellent collaboration, trust and commitment.
